Preservation of the medieval site of Santa Creu de Rodes' ancient village.

On January Signinum have been working in collaboration with the Servei d'Arqueologia de la Generalitat and the Museu d'Història de Catalunya at the site of the medieval village of Santa Creu de Rodes (Port de la Selva, Alt Empordà).

The works included in the annual excavation consisted of consolidating several walls and structures were in danger of loosening due to its constructive nature, since the vast majority of buildings are constructed with stones tied with earth.

Our performance criterion is based on the strict preservation of the original, while providing a greater understanding visual continuity to the lost parts, using the same materials and imitating the same building system. We used the same stones in the area, but tied with lime mortar, to ensure its durability outdoors.
